Merry Christmas! I wanted to share our Christmas Card for this year featuring a Christmas tree illustration I designed.
A few days ago, I created this design and submitted it to a contest on Threadless. The theme was Food Fight/No GMOs. While this topic is a little controversial – I’m still grappling with it – most would agree that genetically engineering food should be done in a responsible way. Lots of great designs have been submitted and you can vote for your favorite here.
I was pretty excited when I found these! So here is the story: my father-in-law had owned a print shop for several years but when he passed away all his old letterpress machines and supplies had to be sold. To my surprise, there were some wooden letterpress blocks that were stashed away in my mother-in-law’s garage. I spent a good part of the evening organizing them and found that I have a full sans-serif alphabet and lots of numbers. I can’t wait to put them to use!
I had so much fun making a stuffed hedgehog for my friend Holly that I decided to do a little more sewing. Here is the stuffed raccoon I just finished for her soon-to-arrive baby boy. It should look great in his forest animal themed room. The pattern is available on Etsy at LittleHibouShoppe. Too cute!
